| Tarmac in Slomczyn slippery like ice! | 11.09.2008, 21:34

These are the words Marcus Gronholm used to describe his feelings after first tests in Slomczyn. A press conference including division 1 and 1A took place on Thursday in the evening. The title contenders, as well as guest star Marcus Gronholm, said a few words regarding the season so far and then answered journalists' questions.

Two times World Rally Champion did not reveal his plans about 2009 season. He confirmed that the start in Slomczyn will be his last outing this year, but hasn't decided yet, what he'll do next. Andreas Eriksson explained how he managed to persuade Gronholm to take part in the ERC. This, as he said, was not very difficult, as Marcus was still keen to compete in racing.

Gronholm's first impressions of rallycross after his Swedish test were very positive, what led to a quick decision to join the competition on the sport's top level. His debut exceeded all expectations, the Finn scored maximum 20 points in Sweden, despite constant pressure applied by rallycross hero Kenneth Hansen. His success spread throughout the rallying lot, and more rally drivers claim they'll also take part in rallycross. He likes the idea of old rivals from the stages fighting again on the tracks.

Kenneth Hansen, Jussi Pinomaki and Piotr Tyszkiewicz, who also participated in the press conference, all pointed out that if the rainy weather persists until race days, we will have racing in the rain in Slomczyn for the first time. "When wet, the asphalt parts of the track are, literally, slippery like ice" - said Gronholm. All the drivers agreed that Polish fans are in to see a very interesting round.
